COMMUNITY

Partnering with Families

We understand that parents are the first and most important teachers in a child’s life. Family involvement is the key to success for your child at St. Mark’s Episcopal Day School and helps further our strong spirit of community and the connection between home and school.

Communication is key in that partnership between home and school. St. Mark’s uses the Procare App for the families and staff, allowing us to be in constant communication with the entire parent body. The teachers use the app for their individual classes which allows them to message everyone or individual parents as needed.  On a weekly basis, teachers send class updates via Procare. The school sends a bi-monthly school newsletter for up to date school news and dates. Additionally, the Director is always available to meet with parents.

Family members are also invited and encouraged to share traditions, skills, cultures and talents in the classroom environment.

FUNDRAISERS

Our Day School maintains its commitment to be as affordable and accessible to all who wish to enroll. In order to keep our tuition and fees reasonable, we proactively engage  in community fundraising and rely on our families to help our endeavors be successful. Our enrolled families demonstrate a great willingness to assist and support the school in raising funds throughout the year via events and special initiatives. Some of our parents volunteer on a special community life committee who help plan and coordinate effective fundraising opportunities.

PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES

Two formal parent/teacher conferences are scheduled during the school year, one in the fall and one in the spring.  The purpose of the conference is to share information about your child’s adjustment to school, as well as his/her progress and development during the school year.  Additional conferences may be arranged with the teacher and/or the director at any time the parent feels it would be helpful.
